Linocut over aquatint 22"x16" 2006
One of a short series of prints based on a linoleum cut of a John Deere tractor. This piece resembles a blackboard and chalk, and to me it is about education and agriculture and what education means and how it's definition has changed drastically since the industrial revolution. The tractor image was sort of divined from the image of the aquatint grid after having stared at it for a while. The grid was made by using a random sequence of numbers from 1 to 5, each number having been assigned a value. I sketched the value table on paper and then applied it to the copper plate in aquatint.
